Hi guys
I am considering looking at a 317 this weekend. Problem is,it's one of the older horizontally opposed 2 cylinder Kohlers with the pressure spray lubricating system. The tractor has been well taken care of,but the owner really doesn't have any idea of the number of hours. Please give me your .02 on this tractor.

I have a pair of them. Nice rugged machines , similar to the legendary 318 without power steering. Plenty of attachments available, and parts too.

I assume you mean series II kohler when you say pressure lube system, right? That is the better engine, the series I was known for catastropic failures on hills, that is one of the pair I own. The one with the blown engine has around 5000 hours on the meter. I still don't know if that is original or if it runs up hours with the key on. The other has 1800+ on it both were commercially used and runs well.
