JD 3020
I have an old gas 3020. It started up for me after a hard winter, but quickly sputtered dead. Then wouldn't restart....cranked but never engaged. I guessed bad gas, so drained it and put in new gas. Got it started, with a jump, but again it sputtered dead after a few minutes. I've checked battery and it's ok. Any suggestions on my issue/fix?

Since it runs for a few minutes and then quits, I am guessing a fuel problem. It sounds like it is running off of the gas in the carburetor and it is not filling fast enough to keep running. The float in the carburetor may be stuck in the closed position or the fuel line from the tank may be clogged. Try disconnecting the line from the tank at the fuel pump and see how much flow you have there. If gas is flowing freely there, then the carb probably needs cleaning.
