JD 301 not going into park

Going to be purchasing a JD 301 tomorrow. Tractor has low hours and is in very good shape with loader s d canopy. The only issue tractor seems to have is that it doesn't go into park as stated by the current owner. Is there anything that anyone may know of as a common issue for this?

It's possible the tab on gear shift rail has broken off. I seen these welded back in place after gear shift cover was removed so as to view the problem.
