JD 2950 MFWD Drive Shaft

Still going over this tractor... the drive shaft appears to have a lot of wobble from the output of the the transmission. The wobble is on the driveshaft yoke to the spline of the output shaft. The U Joint seems to be okay.

What is most likely the wear item? The yoke spline or the output shaft? Is the output shaft a big to do to replace if needed?

Usually the cast iron yoke will wear faster than the shaft. Even if shaft is worn, it is not a huge job to replace. The bottom cover needs to be removed, then the seal housing from around the shaft comes off. Then the shaft will pull out while you support the clutch. The clutch can be then lowered to rebuild the mfwd clutch if you like.

The yoke is available new from deere. part number AL37071. It is alittle pricey at around $162 USDollars, but It may be difficult to find a used one in better shape than what you have. Aftermarket is alternative if you don't mind doing the research to find one to match.
