JD 2720 Idle speed.

Can anyone verify what the correct Idle speed is for a John Deere 2720? I just bought a 2008 2720 and it idles at like 1,400rpm and that seems really hi compared to my 2520 that idles near 1,000 rpm.

Tractor data says operating rpm is 1200 - 2650.

Do you by chance have the service tech manual for them? One likely covers both.

Idle speed is listed as 1000 rpm to 1100 rpm. Max speed is listed as 2600 - 2700 rpm.

Thank you, I'll drop the idle screw down some, because its really wound up and loud at idle compared to my 2520 idling around 1,000 rpm. This 2720 sure is louder than the 2520, but its a much bigger displacement, so it should be. It sure has a LOT more grunt!

I'm planning to buy a repair manual this week or next week once I get the tractor set-up with all my 2520's attachments n such!
Any repair manuals better than others? I'm after a JD paper version…...

Mine idles at 1150 this time of year. During the colder months it idles around 1200 or so, until it gets up to working temperature.

I turned it down to 1,050 and it quieted down so much. I looked at my 2520 and it idles at 950, and that sounds great simply because its quiet!
