I never use my 3 point hitch on my 2007 2305. I removed the 3 point hitch and afterwards I could not raise my mower deck. I noticed there is a steel piece that gets lifted by the left lift arm of the 3 point hitch.....that in turn pushed some rod forward that somehow lifts the 54" mower deck. Sorry for my pathetic description but I know you guys really know this stuff.
I had to reattach the left 3 point hitch arm so that once again it would lift my mower deck. Now I have a tractor that has one arm sticking out the back and looks stupid. Either I will fully reattach the 3 point hitch so it looks somewhat normal, or someone is going to tell me something I can do so that i can operate my mid mount mower deck with the 3 point hitch removed.
I noticed there is a lever to the left of my seat...a 3 position PTO selector lever...........does that have anything to do with this? I also read that there are mechanical lift mechanism to operate mower deck and a hydraulic lift mower deck operator. I assume I have the mechanical lift version.

Thanks guys, hoping for soemone out there to educate me.

The left 3-pt hitch arm uses a tab and rod to raise and lower the mower deck. That is why it's call a mechanical lift. JD sells an independent lift kit which replaces the mechanical rod with a hydraulic cylinder. It is actuated by the SCV control and you use one of the 4 hydraulic connections (I used the green one) on the right side floor board. My kit cost $150 in 2006. It was an easy install.

As noted you have the mechanical lift that uses the 3 point to lift the mower deck. Is there any reason you don't want the 3 point hitch on the machine? Technically it would be possible to fabricate a lift arm connector to replace the 3 point arm, but I would just leave the 3 point system intact.

The PTO selector just engages front, rear or both PTOs. Nothing to do with the lift. The independent lift system has a new hydraulic cylinder which is operated by the loader control. With this system you can independently control the 3 point height but you lose the loader curl function while using the mower lift.

Not to hijack this post, I’ve always considered getting the hydraulic lift for my 2305. Any one know the part# to order ? And does the deck go any higher with it ?

The part number for the LVB25630. The same kit works on the 2305, 2320 & Gen 1 2025R. I do not know if it will raise the deck any higher.
