cdhd,
are you still happy with your decision of XB vs the regular KK mower? I'm debating the same decision. prices are nearly identical. the regular mower is definitely heavier so I'm assuming it will stand up to rougher use. I've had some bad experiences with 'light duty' attachments in the past.

thanks.

So far so good. Best thing I like about the XB is the fully closed sides, front and rear. I can mow close to structures without worrying about the mower throwing debris. If you are field mowing this may not be a good feature, but to me this is great. Also, if you have don't have a fairly "flat" piece of land, the two rear wheels might "bind" in the slope a little more often than the single rear wheel when reversing. I don't have many grade changes that are steeper than 10% in 20 linear feet, so this is okay. I only notice the "bind" when backing into the ditch and creek slopes (25%-50% grade change). Mowing parallel and going forward eliminates the issue. As a general rule, this mower configuration really doesn't like to be pushed around in reverse. Tends to bind the floating 3pt arms.

cdhd,
Thanks for the recommendation and advise. I put this mower on my tractor last week and it works great.

the dealer didn't have the pto shaft but a quick look on the KK website and I saw that the 5' yellow model has the same shaft. Against his insistence that it was a different part, he let me take it. It fit like a glove.

Mowing pasture grass with a few wild roses and an occasional tumble weed was effortless.

Good thing the seat has a shutoff switch as I kept forgetting to disengage the pto when getting up to move obstacles.

thanks again,
barney

Orlo, I am picking up some plate steel this week to finish up the skid plate. Should completely cover the underside from the loader cross bar to the rear hitch.

Did you finish your skid plate?
I would be interested to hear how that worked out - especially if you designed one that doesn't interfere with the mid PTO

The orange kk, sub compact model is the right cutter for the 2305. The Yellow 4' kutter, even though it will work on this machine, is too heavy for your 2305. I owned a 4' yellow model - it destroyed the pto on my 2305. Luckily it was covered under warrenty.

Call King Kutter and ask to speak tech support and he/ she will explain to you why the yellow 4' kutter is not made for your machine.
