Is that a hydro or gear tractor. If it's a gear tractor you should sell it and get a hydro. Run max engine RPM. I think that will put you around 3,000 Engine RPM and maybe 2100 on the mid pto (540 rear). That may be all you can get. It'll blow whatever it blows. Snow in your picture looks like light powder.
You'll probably blow snow twice that far when you get into some real snow.
I can't talk from experience with 2305. I used a 20 inch wide 5HP Bolens 2 stage walk behind blower for 8 years in upstate NY. I had that motor cranked up on the governor for all I dared give it. It would blow 20 to 30 feet no problem in the right snow but it'd be all in your face on a day like the one
you had there. The type of snow matters a lot. Get a 3320 E-hydro cab unit. Blow right down the middle first pass. Then widen it. There may be windy days when this can't be done and you have to blow across the full width one side to another. Think about it this way. Would you rather shovel?

There are some cool videos on Youtube showing the 47" blower operating on a tractor like yours. Looks like a lot more that 15' of throw.

Isn't that a 2100 rpm input shaft requirement? Maybe you have the wrong gearbox option. There are 3 as I recall because, for the front mowers, the pto shaft on a 47 goes the opposite direction. I've been investigating using a 47 for my F935 (front mower). Same basic snow blower machinery but different mounts and a different gearbox. My 935 is a 2100 rpm pto. It might even work somewhat if the rotation was wrong. (and if the rpm was off by 3 maybe you could get 3x more loft).

Have you noticed snow going into the chute and out the front (ski hill option).

I have a 47 Dual Stage that came off of a Used 2305 that a guy traded in with 7 hrs on the whole tractor! :D

I have it on my X475. Do you think I have the wrong gear box on mine? It sure seems to labor the tractor down alot in heavy snow. It actually seems to work best at about half RPM. I'm really wondering if this is the wrong gear ratio blower?

At Idle, my blower still blows light snow all over the place and in my face if the wind is wrong. It seems like its blowing WAYYYY too fast. In like 6 inch snows, if I aim the deflector at a 45 degree angle, and have RPM at Max, it will throw snow like 70 feet many times.

Lots of good feedback....

First here is a youtube video of the blower in action. Not the best but gives you and idea. The one I wanted to post was too long.

YouTube - JD2305 with 47" snowblower

I like the non-stick idea on the chute, paying attention to blowing to the right. I will have to try it out and see how much better performance I get blowing to the right.

I am not sure about the input gear ratio. I will have to check on that. We could be on to something here. I would hope the dealer was all over this and set it up right though.

It is a two stage shaft driven unit not a hydro. The hydraulics rasie and lower it and rotate the chute but do not power the auger or blower. Seems like the shaft driven model is preferred at least over the hydro models of the smaller "garden tractors" because it is more reliable and less power loss. COuld be wrong but that was one of the reasons the dealer encouraged me to go to the 2305 from a X500 or X700 series.

Thanks for the good thoughts.

One more thing....I didn't get out a tape measure and determine it was only blowing 15'. I do know that it at times could not clear the width of the driveway. There was snow flying all over and some went further and some went shorter but I could tell the bulk of the snow build up on the end seemed to be just too close for my liking. Maybe it was closer to 20-25', who knows exactly, I just know I was disappointed.

I have the same tractor and blower as you have. I agree with all the comments here, you will probably get more distance with a little heavier snow.

The only thing I could add is that the distance will be reduced if the impeller moves forward on the shaft. The back of the impeller should be ~ 3/16" from the housing.

I have a 64" 3pt blower on my Kkubota ( a bit bigger but still applies i would guess) I have a 2.5 mile driveway/road that I have to keep clear that runs up over a mountain at 3,000ft in the wv/western Md. mountains. So, needless to say I have logged a few hours blowing snow..
If your blower is a two stage which most are now days, your clearance between the fan blades and the housing should only be about 1/8 of an inch. the bigger the gap the less distance you will get.
I had to put a liner in my housing this past fall thanks to the 22ft. we got last year and shooting plenty of gravel. It went from shooting snow about 10-15 ft. to shooting it 30+ feet depending on the snow of course.
Try one of these...

HOW IT WORKS

Let's not confuse the current quick hitch 47 blower, (with the 2 chain driven
sprockets on the back), with the larger 47 blower that fits the front mount
mower line, and back to the old compacts and 420/430 garden tractors.
That unit had a gear box on the back, and yes, could be configured
differently for the different applications, but it was a totally different blower
than this "quick hitch" model. with these current quick hitch models, there
are no options for direction or different gear reductions.
and talk about heavy, ;)

From the video your blower is fine. The fan has got good rotation speed.

You may get better perforformance if you take a full swath rather than the 1/4 or 1/2 that you are taking in the video. The impellar area wants to be full to reach max efficiency.

Wind plays a roll. What I do is give the storm a day or 2 to pass on by. Usually at that point the wind has died down and the evening is the perfect time for lighter winds. Makes snowblowing so much more enjoyable.

In big storms just blow a "hole" to ease the morning commute. Snowblow when the weather turns in your favor.
