JD 155C tossing belt

Hello folks....have a 7...8 year old 155C mower that throws the blade belt on start up. Replaced the belt and same thing. Pulleys seem ok with a little play in the one idler. When I reinstall the belt and engage the electric clutch, the belt stays on 8 of 10 times. The other 2 times, I reinstall the belt, then I'm ok. Any suggestions? Thanks people for your help.

Might look for a bad bearing in a spindle that is lugging down to loosen the belt. Also, might be time to go after that idler. It is a nuisance to be throwing belts.
