JD 110 Mower Deck Belt

How do I take off the belt for a JD 110 (old early 70s) tractor? I can take the mower deck off pretty easily and I take the belt off the deck itself. But then the belt goes into the engine. I can't figure out how to get the belt off the pulley in the engine (without cutting it of course.)
