Hello- This is my first thread. I have been reading a while and there is a lot of great info on here.

I have a JD 110 TLB. Got a thumb on the hoe. I love it. About to get to the point where a brush grapple would be useful.

I've seen some posts on here about Markham but would like to have some actual owners/ users of Markham brush grapples describe their experiences please. If anyone has actually used a aprticular grapple on a 110 TLB that they like I'd like to hear about it.

Likewise if you have had one you particulary didn't like.

The Worksite Pro ag grapple was qouted at $2500 from a JD dealer.

Thanks!

I don't know how many JD owners have Markham grapples. Ask this question in the Attachments subforum and you will get a lot of positive feedback from the Markham owners. I don't have one myself but I have three years experience with a similar Millonzi light duty grapple. From my perspective you should think about a 48 inch Markham light duty version (under $1000 delivered) with perhaps some extra bottom tines. That would be about equivalent to what I have. I use my Millonzi on a 5000lb tractor with a 2700lb lift capacity and the grapple is perfect. Don't get one that is too heavy or too wide and don't fall into the trap of thinking the grapple should be the same size as your primary bucket. Simplest way to control it is with rear remotes but many guys prefer diverter valves or electric over hydraulic both which cost much more.

Have you tried the 48" rail pallet forks to move limbs branches and logs? I have just finished clearing 3 acres including stumps with my 110 and found that with the forks about 12 to 16" spacing was perfect for carrying stumps and set full width (48") for branches and logs. The forks will pickup and carry a load of branches big enough you cant see around them. The forks will also slide beneath a stump to pick it up where a bucket will just push it around.

Thanks, IslandTractor! I'll try that sub-fourm. I've got the extra front hydraulics for the grapple. I was really hoping to get some feed back from any JD owners with the JD worksite pro ag grapples too.

Yes, I have thought about it but thanks for providing the first hand experience. That may be a valid option. But I do like the idea of being able to clamp down on the load to control smaller pcs.

One thing I'll be doing besides brush is cleaning up some old debris sites with a lot of old scrap lumber and debris.

What I found was that I could carry a load of branches that was about three times as large as what the grapples would hold but I had to drive slower.

If you have the pallet forks or have them available I would test them out, might save you $1600. I was thinkng about grapples too but was amazed how well the forks worked for me.

Steve, The forks are a lot cheaper. And it could never hurt to have another attachment as long a it wasn't too expensive, right?

Attachments and implements are great additions to all tractors and tlb's and I am one of the first to buy:D. When I bought my 110 with cab I spared no expense except a radio which I did not want.

If you have very rough or uneven terrain the grapples would be better to hold the load securely. Recognize that when you pickup a load with forks and tilt it back all the way that the back rest and forks form a deep vee with 4' sides. This will carry a big stack of debris. The small and or short pieces are easy to scoop up with a bucket afterwards.
