We have a small vacation home (older doublewide) in Florida. Don't think I would ever want to go there in the summer. I've asked neighbors who live there year round what they do in the summer. They say they go from air conditioner to air conditioner

Polo - you neighbors in Fla are telling you the truth..the humidity down here and there will take your breath away..It is really like a sauna all the time and air conditioning is the only salvation.. Makes you wonder how we ever made it back in the old days without air conditioning but we did..

It's a cool 99 today, with a heat index of 104. This is not unusual just par for the course in these here neck of the woods. As a few other southerners mentioned, it's not the heat but the humidity that makes the difference. Luckily the humidity is only about 35 today.

I sure miss my pool.

That's part of the problem with high humidity. Long story short, the higher the moisture content in the air, the more diffuicult for your body sweat to evaporate (which is what makes you feel cool).

Ever notice how some 95 degree days feel hotter than other 95 degree days? Likely due to higher humidity.

I never owned an air conditioned car until I move south. I always had 2/80 air conditioning (roll down two windows and drive 80), but down here, man, open those windows and drive and it feels like a blast furnace hitting you in the face on some days.

I had family that use to live in Nevada. Terribly hot in the summer, but just take a dip in the pool and let the wind hit you, and you would almost shiver.
That's what low humidity will do for ya.

90 degrees here today. I spent 6 hours during the hotest part of the day running the hedgetrimmer cutting 4 foot grass and weeds.:confused2: I'll finish tomorrow.

It was only about 75 when I got up at 5:30 this morning. That was pleasantly cool compared to the last few mornings. Topping out in the mid ninties most days, but with heat indices of 100+. I think I heard 112 for the heat index a couple days ago....sounds high, but it felt right. We just keep having really hot days and rain every few days. Keeps the humidity way up there. Yesterday I had to quit work outdoors at just after noon because I had gone through my gallon of cold water and was getting a bit woozy. Today I really need to get some weed eating done, but it's wet and looks like more rain. I wonder if the Stihl would mind working in the rain....sounds kind of nice.

Our pool is 92 deg...it is like bathwater but it is still wet...LOL...98 deg yesterday with heat index at 110 and humidity at 90 %

Had four days in a row that topped 90*, (highest was 94*) July 4th -8th. Since then our highs have been around the mid-80's. This week the highs are to be upper 70's to low 80's. Low of 51* forecast for Monday night - I am looking forward that. We may not see 90* again this year.

It's been several years since we had a stretch of warm weather like this. My garden doesn't even know it's in Maine :laughing:

It's 82* and a little humid at noon.
