Its official, my MF1643 is on order

Walked into Proudfoot's this morning after dropping the missus off at the mall. Her last words to me were, don't buy anything else today. Now she knows I'm headed over to the dealer to make the order for the 1643. But she knows me well enough to say that.

Get to see Brock, we chat, looked over some dimensional measurements then get down to review the order. Everything in place, I went for the cash purchase which provided a hefty discount. All I had to do was put down 10% USD. USD because the tractor and snowblower are being paid in USD. The remaining is CAD. By the time the tractor arrives in mid-October if I time the exchange currencies right, I might save a bit more. For every 1 penny the Canadian dollar goes up, I'll be able to save $350 CAD if I were to move money to obtain the USD balance required.

So what's on order?

• MF 1643 4wd cab with DL120 FEL
• MF 1507 72" snowblower - front attached
• MF 1575 Backhoe (new 2008 model, discounted) with choice of bucket (16 or 24 inch)
• fork lift 2000lb 48" quick attach
• Walco 7ft rear blade

The hour I was there flew by. I had to get back to pick up the wife from her own shopping day. Out the door I go and stop dead in my tracks. What do I see but a Husqvarna LT130 HST ride on mower brought in on a trade only yesterday. Priced right too. A quick look then off to get the missus. I say to her, we have to go back. Now a bit of back story here, both her and I do the lawn chores, typically together, using walk behind mower. For years we've talked about getting a ride on. Never able to commit to spend the funds and never able to find one small enough I could tuck into the back of the Avalanche truck. This little LT was hte right size and right price.

So back in to see Brock to buy it and by the time I left, I bought two Husq safety helmets with ear protection and face shields and a jug of chainsaw oil. The chainsaw oil was on sale and the helmets were discounted after all the money I just spent in the store.

Can't wait for the tractor to arrive but we're just as happy to have this little mower. I put it through its paces after supper, mowing a trail that hadn't been touched since last year. Performed flawlessly.

T'was a good day. Now the only decision to make is whether to take the 24" bucket or go for a smaller 16 inch? Most of what we'll be doing is ditching, stump pulling small trees (<8" diameter butts) and the inevitable rocks we will find.

Congratulations! Sounds like you made out well, and have set up a great relationship with your dealer at the same time! Sounds like your missus is a real gem, too.

I can understand the rider- I got a used MMM for my 2310 and have been tickled pink with it, after years of walk-behind; this is my first-ever "rider." Not only is it (at least) 4X as fast, it does a better job!

I'll let others with larger tractors talk about the bucket; mine's only a 12"....

--Or is it a 10"? Where are buckets measured from? At the teeth mine's 12", but the bucket itself is more like 10"....

I did see the 1660 there but I never clued in to discuss it. Neither did Brock for that matter. One thing about Brock that separates him from other salesmen, there's no upsell pressure. But I wouldn't of minded hearing about it.

I forgot to mention too that on the way home, just down the highway, there was a dealer for LTL Trailers made in PEI. I put my name on a new 16x7 flat deck for $3300. I thought that was a bargain.

Indeed she is. We're opposite's that meet in the middle. 19 yrs married, I think we raised our voices once. One main rule of the household is it takes two "yes votes" for something to happen. If one of us does not agree, whatever it is the other wants to do, well, it doesn't happen until one person or the other is convinced otherwise. That, my friends, is compromise at its best. Depends of course which side of the vote you are on at the time.

I have to take long time making the decision with a large purchase, smaller valued purchased I can do easily, if I see the value in it. She's the very opposite. Then again, maybe it was the high resolution tractor/snowblower pictures I found online and used as rotating screensavers on the computer that had a subtle effect too. There are subtle tricks to negotiating a deal.

Congrats on the purchase - sounds like you got a very complete set-up! You'll find lots of things that you can do now, that you would never have dreamed of starting before .

Thanks NSBound. Its "almost" complete. I still want to get a winch and PTO chipper. Oh, and maybe I sweet snow clearing contract to pay for this puppy. Anybody know where I can get a sign that says "Tractor and driver for hire"

You should pick these up too some bookends for your set (1660 and 1635)

I drove that 1635 around the lot. I was first going to get it but went for the 1643 since it was more tractor for only a little bit more. I wonder what the 1660 is going for? Do you know?

Not sure what the 60 sells for. Give Brock a call, might not be that bad? Im sure he'd let you upgrade since its more $$$

You'll like the LWL trailers. I looked at them before. Well built. Made "local". I think the price might have actually come down?? since i last inquired.

I think if i ever bought a manufactured trailer though, id go for a dump trailer. Having the dump would be a good thing IMHO.
