It\'s Like Getting a New Tractor (BX23)

Well, the BX23 had 40 hours on it.

Tuesday AM I was taking a break with a cup of coffee when I noticed a flat bed truck backing up the driveway. Picked up the binoculars (wife is a birder) and read, "M_______ Equipment Co." -- Oh, it's my new box blade, rotary cutter and tiller (plus two nice Kubota "camo" hats)! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif We unloaded them in the barn lot, then I went out and finished a trenching job that I have been doing with the backhoe. About 5:00 PM I decided to look over the BH removal procedure so I could "sleep on it" and give it a try the next morning. Ha! Ten minutes later the BH was sitting on the barn floor. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Ten minutes more and I had the BB hooked up -- wow, it's like an entirely different machine! Really sporty looking with a Midwest brand BB20-48 blade in Kubota gray. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I finished the day by placing an order for a load of gravel for the driveway. (Pretty gutsy for a guy with a new BB, and who has never run one before!)

The next morning (Wednesday) I was going to test everything out and move them into the barn, but owing to a strong, cold, north wind I decided to just put everything inside and come back another time.

Today (Thursday) the gravel arrived -- 14 tons. Gosh, how many days is it going to take me to spread and grade this stuff? Answer: three hours, after which I go next door and grade the neighbor's driveway. (He had gotten a load of gravel last week, and had tried to level it with my old 72-inch RB on his Ford 3000.) Thanks to the many past discussions I have read here on TBN, I had a good Idea as to how to get started using the BB, and it worked just great.

Now the BX23 has 45 hours on it, and to finish off the day a pickup truck comes up the driveway with my new post hole digger! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Tomorrow (Friday) promises to be warmer -- a good day to go out and spin the tiller and cutter. Looks like we may be doing the 50-hour service before the weekend is over. Will this fun never end? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif (Yes, it will, as soon as I get way too far behind on the indoor projects!)

Enuff already! Quit rubbin' it in! Those of us at "work" (reading TBN) are now Jonesin' to get on our tractors after spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$ on new implements. (Can you say, "Cabin fever?")

You can imagine how I feel then! Ground is too wet to till, grass is brown and not growing. I've put everything on and off twice ... what do I do now??? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Guess I could design and build a tool box. I have to keep looking for my 19mm wrench for those darn "check chains."
