I've seen hints that they are only seeing the original post in an email and responding to that, which should not be happening. They should be required to come into the thread to be able to reply.

They are required to come into the thread. That's the only way to reply. On the site or with the app.

You might consider the frequency of sending.

I received enough emails to make me create a new email rule. Any email received from TBN is immediately routed to the trash folder. So I don't have to repeatedly and manually delete them.

Nothing wrong with the forum-- I do enjoy it and it provides value. I just didn't like the high volume of emails soliciting me for things I was not interested in.

But they're not READING the thread. They glance at the first post and spew something based on it and only on it without taking into regard any of the ensuing posts. Sixty, seventy posts in after a number of other points have been made, questions answered or new information supplied, their one post is almost entirely out of context. I say one post, because they rarely engage in the thread further.

Like this guy; Electrical / romex mess

They want to answer the OP, not wade thru a bunch of other replies.

What do you suggest?

What do you suggest?

A summary of how many replies to that thread next to the title all shown in the emails they get.

You'll get a mix of the viewers then. Some would gladly jump in with only a handful of posts to a thread because it's something they would like to comment or add. Then there is the OTHER groups of people who LOVE to wade thru PAGES of posts to either educate themselves or help wit the repair of their machine.

Just my 2-cents.

Shouldn't be too difficult to add that.

The Romex thread is becoming an example of why this is a bad idea.
Hopefully you can see the humorous side of this. Mixing uninformed-to-nonsensical posts in the middle of a thread, and then repeating that every few posts, has some entertainment value.

I presume the return of long-dormant members flooding back to the forum is creating an economic bonanza. So when measuring quantity-- it's a grand slam!!!!

Not working out as expected.

I don't much care about an OP, per se. A lot of us glean useful information from the threads of others. To me, that is the point of a public forum as opposed not a private message.

I'm not sure why this matters. All of us were new posters at one time, and apparently some have other things to do besides sit at a computer.

I’m a member of 23 different forums, related to everything I am interested in and do. Sometimes I go months/years between posts. Doesn’t speak to my qualifications, or my experience. I post on boards that relate to current projects/works.

I think you’re making a ridiculous claim, and have far too much time on your hands.

Go enjoy a coffee, walk away from the forum, find something worthy of your energy.

Being a new Tractor owner this was one of the first threads I read all the way through! I just sat there and thought what if that happened to me! Yes, there are a lot of non-good-answers. And half don't give any clue where the OP could look or work on to solve his problem. There is still good info! I think the Veterans that really do know what to check and look for get turned off by all the get a Lawyer guys. I've been involved on Snowmobile forums for almost 20 years . Talk about competitive thoughts and brand loyalty. I've learned much already and yes its from the guys that have owned Tractors most of there life. 90% of threads go off the rails in the first 3 pages but there still might be some useful info . A forum you might like is " The Garage Journal " We all need someplace to put our toys .

This is by design. We have automated emails going out 2x a week with trending threads from the past few days. This has been getting a lot of members to come back to the site... which is exactly what we were hoping would happen!
It worked for me.
