I've got a perfectly good spare battery myself as a result of very similar process.

The thing that jumps out at me is how perfect all the connections have to be. Even my Deere Dozer is not as picky, and I'm running a single battery on that bad boy too.

I will bet the ground on the Deere goes directly to the engine block and not to the frame.

The deere ground is on the frame at the battery box. Much bigger cable, but not to engine block.

I've never had a machine of any kind as finiky with regards to battery connections as my Kioti.

Including two Kubota tractors (used to leave terminals loose so I could easily remove and replace batteries) and my Deere Dozer.

OK, so maybe I did not need the new battery. What I got me is a $70 lesson in basic electrical grounding techniques and the finer points thereof. Continuing Education Points with certificate will be in the mail soon, I am sure.

Good practice for when I install a solar PV system.
