It has a great big door ding!

We took our 2019 Chrysler 300c in for a recall yesterday. We picked it up today and my wife said she would look it over while I got the keys. Before I could get out the door she came in and said it has a big door ding. The car has less than 40,000 miles on it and it’s not perfect but close. It’s actually not a ding but it appears the door was opened against something and was rubbing on it while they worked on it. They didn’t argue about it and it goes in next week to be fixed. I’m not holding my breath for a perfect fix.

Had a similar experience with my pickup, my ding was a straight up dent. Dealer was really nice about it and had the body shop re-skin the door. I was still under warranty back then.

Edit: Good reason to take before pictures/video of your car when you drop it off for repair/service. Might save your bacon. I do that in airport parking sometimes.

The recall was for the side airbags, otherwise I wouldn’t let them touch. Of course you know how these recall letters read, if you don’t get it done all the baby seals in the world will die.

That sucks. I'd bet the door was up against the post of a 2 or 4 post lift. Constant in and out would more the car constantly.

You're right but it's sad that a person has to think that way. I did it when I took my Ram in for warranty work as well as watched the dash cam footage when I got home.

They just put the ABS hydraulic model in my truck under a recall. I never priced the part but I bet it’s over a grand and they said it required 4 hours to change so probably another $600 labor plus sales tax. It cost me $0 since it was a recall. Letting the dealer work on it for free seems like a better option than spending a decent chunk of money to me.

My car sees the dealer for annual inspection and tires, only. Everything else is done at home.

I do have a Challenger. I’m considered a highly qualified mechanic so I do my own annual inspections.. Actually we don’t have to do those in Illinois. Don’t give our governor any ideas either.

I do, but we don't have any inspections here, annual or otherwise.

If we did I'd have a lot more miles on it since there's no dealer within 100+ miles of here. Which is one way to say that I don't drive it nearly as much as I should/would like to.

I'd have my dealer send me the part(s) and install it myself.
