It Doesn\'t Pay to Borrow Your Neighbors Implements
I should say attempt to borrow. I thought I could get along without a disc this year, wrong! My neighbor said I could use his 10 footer, raised and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder and on tires. It's been sitting out in his buffalo farm pasture for a long time so I drove down this morning to see what I would need to get it the two miles to my place. It was rusted, for sure, but the cylinder and tires looked good but I needed hitch pins to connect it to my drawbar. I drove over to the local JD dealer, bought two pins, drove my tractor the two miles back to the buffalo farm. I cleaned up the connections as they were fairly well corroded, I then noticed one of the hoses was torn but the inner core looked intact so I hooked them up to the remotes on the 45, hooked up the hitch to my drawbar and hopped in the tractor. I raised the disc and that put pressure on the tires and they were both flat. I was not a happy camper, unhooked everything, drove home and am now trying to figure out a way I can afford a 3 pt disc. I have never liked implements with tires and this just reinforces my thinking. I am not sure if the 45 would have been able to pull that 10 foot disc either.
