Is this a proper blade for a box blade?

It looks proper to me, but I don't have the knowledge or experience to know. The price is good on this bb but I don't want a flat bar for a blade, like I'm told the less expensive ones come with.

It's a Lowery branded unit made in Boaz Alabama.

It looks great to me.



Is there anything to be concerned about?

Does it also have a blade on the back side? Facing the opposite way?

That one in your picture looks very similar to mine. Mine works just fine.

Looks like the double sided blade on both my rear blade and roll over box blade. There are a few things you should consider. What does Kubota recommend for size of the box blade on your MX5200. There are two "camps" on rear implement width - get wider than the width of your rear tires - don't worry about getting it wider than the rear tires. My HD Rhino rear blade IS wider than my rear tires. My ROBB is narrower than my rear tires.

I clear snow with the Rhino rear blade. It is 96". When offset and angled it WILL NOT cut a path as wide as my rear tires. However - it weighs 1050# and does an excellent job on the snow.

My ROBB is 72". It digs like a drunken miner. I've had/used it for ten years now. Never found that I needed one that was wider than my rear tires.

The last item. Will you be using the box blade on your driveway. It's IDEAL to have the width just a tad more than half the driveway width OR LESS. If the box blade is too wide - it can be a real PITA to maintain the crown. At half the driveway width or less - you won't be cutting down the crown all the time. You go up one side - do your business. Come back down the other side - do your business. Leave the crown alone - basically.

BTW - almost any ground engagement implement will benefit GREATLY with a hydraulic top link. There is a learning curve for use of a box blade - very much like a rear blade. The hydraulic top link shortens the learning curve considerably and makes much better use of the implement.

Thanks. I'll be brief since I'm on a phone, but Kubota says 1000lbs and 72" is limit. I've got a hyd tL and hoses lined out, I just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

BTW - that is obviously a fairly HD box blade. I see it's set up to handle either Class 1 or Class 2 hookup.

They say it weighs 550lbs. I'm excited because the price is right for me and I've not found a less expensive one with boxed pins capable of cat two hook up.
