Just paid mine off have not gotten a title or anything just a pay off letter from kubota.

If there is no title what do you do when you sell it to transfer owner ship?

Hand written BILL OF SALE, you can give new owner payoff letter (proof tractor is lein free)
TITLE = more state taxes each time equipment sells

give them a bill of sale with the make and model, and serial number, and a copy of the pay off letter from kubota. that's it.

in our state (Washington) you can apply for a title to just about anything. most everything except on road vehicles dont have a title when purchased new.

As i bought new from the dealership, my tractor is registered with them and Kubota, and the insurance too. If i were to sell it before the 6 year powertrain warranty was up, then transferring the warranty to the new owner, if possible, would make sense to me. And proof of loan payment completion of course, too.

My dealer told me no VIN number no title. So everyone's info on bill of sale with pay-off letter and serial number is about it.

Title?? plan to sell........hear ye hear ye we may have a hairee-tick here......!!!:D

Here in NY, they use the serial # for the VIN if you want SPEC COMM plates for it. But you also need insurance.

Bill of sale is also required. Non-transferable registration too.

This is mostly if you run a business and drive your machine to the site without trailering it. There are a couple other odd exceptions, but not many.

For what it's worth, only place you can find out more more info about SPEC COMM plates is right at the DMV. For some reason it's not clearly mentioned on the NYS DMV website.

Farm use -- totally not necessary. To be seen, just working hazards and a SMV is recommended.

You can get a Certificate of Origin....

Shhhhhhhh. Quiet. You'll give someone an idea for another tax. In Texas, all you have to do is mount a SMV symbol on the rear and you can drive it down the road. (Daytime) I don't know for sure if flashers are required. Mine used to be hard wired so it might be. My Ford was an old county mower.

Lawyer told me tractors don't have titles. He said it was a method to avoid property taxes.

Makes it virtually impossible to find out if there is a lien on a used tractor.

Avoiding taxes makes sense no title but makes it a gamble to buy a used tractor.

Depends upon the state in which you reside as such is regulated by state law.

I would suspect that Kubota will supply you with a certificate of origin but only if you so ask. I have one for my RTV-X1100C but needed to request it.

In Michigan the only things that have titles are things that need a license plate. Trailers, cars, trucks, RV's.

As the other 18 posts have confirmed, tractors do not have titles in most states (none that I know of.) The serial number on the chassis is the main form of identification and tracking.
Bill of Sale is common for anything bought used of significant value and should be provided buying or selling a tractor.

That I am 100% sure of tractors are not titled in Tenn., W.Va., Ohio, PA, and Maryland.

No title, but you should get a letter from whoever you financed it thru saying the lien is extinguished.
