Is the Cyber Truck a Flop?

On performance vehicles ICE or not, I'd never buy any vehicle made by Chrysler or any if it's subs simply because I know what is under the sheet metal. Could have a Briggs lawnmower engine in it for all I care.

After driving my Y for the last 2 years I see the majority of ICE vehicles as boring and downright ugly. My ICE coversion to Tesla experience must be like the experience going from horse/buggy to the Model T.

Each to their own. Personally, I find Tesla vehicles rather ugly, and think the interior ergonomics absolutely suck. Glad you like yours, but I'll stick to ICEs for the foreseeable future.

In my asthetic view, the Rivan is even fuglier than the CT. The front end reminds me of a puffer fish.

I don't like the headlights, but at least it otherwise looks like a normal truck. Front end of tesla sedans look like a fish to me.

Getting to the point where ingress and egress is a chore so it don't get driven as much as it used to. Certinly not an old fart's vehicle and I qualify as an old fart.

Yeah, after driving a truck and/or an SUV (or at least something marketed as one) for the last 30 years I would never even consider another sedan. Too low, too hard to get in/out of.

If Tesla does a price reduction on the CT like they did on the 3, Y, X back in early 2023 they will probably increase sales. The CT foundation series needs to come in about $55K, instead of $75K.

Not likely. It's still ugly and pretty useless as anything but a "look at me I've got more money than common sense" vehicle. Not to say there isn't a limited market for e-trucks, but it'd need a complete redesign in order to be anything but a novelty vehicle.

EV trucks make a lot of sense for things like county maintenance crews who only drive 15-20 miles a day but need a way to carry some tools, or a plumber/electrician/etc who never needs to tow but needs some carrying capacity for around town. But the Cyber truck makes no sense for anyone.

That's my thoughts; I don't understand why they went out of the way to make the front-end look so awkward. Otherwise, the Rivian, truck and SUV, are good looking vehicles.

I wouldn't own one, but they do otherwise look really nice.

GMC is now competitive in the EV truck market. The 2025 Sierra EV models were only available in Denali trim, starting at $89,900. GMC now has 3 different trim levels for the 2026 Sierra EV. It is based on the Avalanche chassis. Starting at $62,400 for the Elevation edition, plus destination charge of $2,095, for an MSRP of $64,495. They are on the dealer lots now at that price. Even the Denali trim is cheaper for 2026 starting at $69,700.

Yeah thats much better, but still quite expensive. Hopefully doesn't chew through those expensive 22" tires too quickly (curb weight 8600 lbs!).

Looks like the "standard range" is estimated at 283 miles but not official yet. Which means in deep winter weather, you're probably looking at ~200 miles or less. With any basic trailer behind you, you'd be looking at under 150 miles of range. I'm sure it recharges quickly but that usually still means ~30 minutes if you are able to find a compatible charger directly on your route.

One awesome feature: the folding midgate for long materials!

I confess, I went and looked at a Rivan after watching the YT video on the Amascon delivery trucks (all made by Rivan and other than the strange ffront end, it's a nice vehicle with good range and I'd consider buying one. Standard is 4 motor and comes with off road tires as well and well under 85 grand. 0-60 in 3 seconds ain't bad either.

It does for the upwardly mobile, of which I'm not. Take a look at the Rivan, to me it checks all the boxes and costs appreciably less as well.

Friend of mine had an Avalanche back in the 00s...he really liked it. He almost never kept a truck more than 3-4 years, held on to it for over 10. Big downside to them was that there was almost no rear visibility. Tried to back a 4x8 utility trailer on his truck once...could not see it at all (no backup cams back then). HUGE blind spot behind it. Of course most, if not all vehicles today are like that...Chevy was ahead of the curve with that!

What's the point of such 0-60 times with a truck? Sports car, sure but I can't imagine that's high on a truck buyer's want list. I'd rather see longer range myself, even if it means slower off the line.
