Is Kubota Smiling??

Can't help but feel that Kubota has to be real pleased with their BX series tractors. I look at the "Kubota Owning -Operating" area and six of the top ten posts are questions about BX series tractors. And not complaints either but usage questions, people who own and operate and are hoping to stretch the usage of their "Tractor". The buying-pricing thread had four of the ten including some thinking of trading "Down" (Unheard of!!) I know some look at the BX series as a glorified lawn tractor. Maybe, maybe not but either way they sure seem to be getting more and more varied use than my old riding lawnmower ever saw.

The BX series is what drew me into a Kubota dealer the first time. It was where I began evaluating the usage I had for a tractor. I didn't buy one but I did buy a Kubota and all my talk about better dealer support which for me is true is great but you have to ask how much of my decision to stay orange had to do with the first time I scrunched my butt onto the seat of a BX 1500.

Anyway, I guess the point of this post is both the question I posed in the title, "Is Kubota Smiling?" and Kudos to Kubota for creating and filling a consumer niche.

It is my thought that the ones who suggest the BX is a glorified lawn tractor, are the ones who bought a competing brand, usually do to cost. The trend also seems to be buying large compacts for small property. I lok at someof the profiles and people are using 40HP compacts on 1-3 acres???? Seems like overkill.

It all depends on what your doing on the 1 to 3 etc., acerage.

I have a normal city lot, so I really don't need a PHD, 54" MMM, 52" tiller, box blade, and the BX2200 with loader. BUT, when I load it on my trailer and go make some $$$$ with it on the side, it's a pretty decent investment. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So Ron,

Did you buy it for that reason? I guess I am wondering why with a normal city lot you would have been looking at tractors in the first place. No, That is a stupid question /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. You looked at tractors because they are tractors /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. Let me try to rephrase that. I guess I am wondering how, with a normal city lot, you were able to justify a tractor /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Now if you had planned from the get go to Hire out then it makes sense. But I also wonder if this is something you realized "After" the purchase. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yesterday:

I woke up to the surprise that the weatherman was wrong it and looked sunny and nice out. I marked the calaner and counted this as one of the 22 nice days we get a year in western PA, and I went to work. I mowed my lawn (looks great now that I tweeked the setup), removed the deck, put on the loader (my 4 year old was yelling for the neighbor kids to watch papa put on the loader /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )(I'm a rockstar to my 4 year old and the tractor is my guitar). I moved 4 yards of mulch, put away the tractor and life is good. The yard isn't torn up, or beat down, etc. The BX is a very well balanced "right sized" tractor for most suburban 1/2 acre to 3ish acres. It will even work with more land if asked to, just takes a bit longer. I love it.

I bought mine for my 3/4 acre lot, and I mow another 1/2 acre for a neighbor. Now I am scoring 3.2 acres accross the street and guess what, I am keeping the BX. I think it will do fine! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We have something in common. Eastern Colorado has 22 days a year that aren't sunny /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But, I think your post is pretty good proof about the BX being a great multi-use tractor. Small enough to work in town and big enough to move right out to a country estate.

Again, I have to believe that Kubota is smiling
