I walked into a very large Kubota dealer today, go to the parts counter and tell them I need enough SUTD to do a complete change on my M9540, plus two filters. They can't tell me how much I need and I need to consult my owners manual.

Sounds to me like that they are just plain LAZY. When I asked my dealer's parts man, he looked it up for me and got me exactly what I needed.

I did a quick search and came up with 14.25 GALLONS for whatever TRANSMISSION and the HYD. SYSTEM ON YOUR M9540 they all take the same amount according to TRACTOR DATA .com . I asked my dealer the same question and his answer was how many hours is on it. According to my DEALER if it is LESS THAN 500 or 600 HRS. only change the FILTERS and top it off meaning the amount you lost by changing filters. And it is in my owners manual that I have for my M7040. Hope this may help you out.

14.25 gal sounds exactly right. same on my 8540. just have a large bin to collect drain off, & means of pumping new fluid back in. whether to use udt or sudt is your choice. imho udt is just fine for your location. personally, would go w/total fluid change & filter, but that's only my take. anyway you're on the right track.

I went in with the part # of the filter I needed written on a piece of paper then handed it over when asked what I needed so I am not sure how it would go if I just gave them my tractor model and asked for a specific filter for it. I would expect them to be willing to look it up if they didn't have it memorized. I would expect them to be able to tell me how much hydraulic fluid I needed also. The counter person was not exceptionally friendly when I bought the filter. If not at least courteous next time there is another Kubota dealer nearby or I might just order online. I don't think it is too much to ask for someone to be at least a little friendly and helpful when they take my money.

Your dealer must have more business than he knows what to do with.

McRebel, who is your dealer? I have dealt with Chickasaw Equipment in MS and they are as friendly and helpful as can be. They even let me look at their computer listings and parts breakouts.

I am near Meridian so Chickasaw Equip would be too far. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Could be someone was just having a bad day. I will give the dealer here another try this week. I have to pick up an oil filter to go with the Rotella T6 that I just found out I payed too much for at Autozone.

I think I confused them when I asked to buy a 6x4x2 dirt auger. They had to know what brand three point it was going to be used on. I told them typically all two inch round coupler augers were the same. Same for 2 inch hex and 2 9/16 round. I then remembered that it was a Rhino brand. Well then they needed to know the model number. I asked to look at what they had and I could tell if it would work. No No. I remembered the model, EPHD, They said see there are three different six inch augers listed for just that unit. I said yep probably rock head, welded and replaceable cutters. All they had was welded. It was after this episode that we got into fluids. I finally said "well I'm going to say it, you got to be kidding me" and I left.

I've had that problem. I went to the brand NH dealership and it was like talking the wrong language. I went to a smaller NH outfit and it was a complete turn around. They went the extra mile, double checked and answered questions. I try to always go to them. TSC is just confused in my area when it comes to tools and machinery of any kind.

bake321,

When I saw your post, I figured you must be a neighbor. Sounds like my local dealer. Pretty much useless. AND snotty. And they're the ones I bought my BX from...

When the BX broke down in my field I called them. They said something like "hope it works out". A dealer at some distance charged me $70 to pick it up and deliver it back (+repairs, of course) which seems very reasonable. Another dealer even farther away is also very good, and very responsive. When I need parts or service I just figure in a long drive.

I guess the bad ones are everywhere.

Good luck,
Z.

Did you talk to the manager or owner. They may want to know why they are losing business. If they're not interested, nothing lost.

Walmart dropped the price for Rotella T6 to $19.57 a gallon here recently.

Same here...great price for a very good oil.i grabbed a six pack of gallons and another 5 of the Rotella T1, Sae30 for my Detroit deisel..it was only 13.61 a gallon. That's 1.50 less than the best Internet price I could find
.then I needed to pay shipping.

Z, have you tried Jennings Equipment in Puyallup? I make the long trip as my local dealer is kinda like the one you discussed.

Hey, Ron. Wouldn't surprise me if we share the same "quality" local dealer. I haven't tried Jennings. Since I have family in Olympia, I like to stop by J&I Power Equipment when I'm down there. So far, they've been first rate.

I'll keep Jennings in mind. Thanks.

Yes, even their place in Houston would be a long drive. The one just south of Tupelo is in a new location and bigger than before.

Good to know since I patronize J&I too... just have not needed any Kubota parts... go there for Stihl and no complaints.

"Did you talk to the manager or owner. They may want to know why they are losing business. If they're not interested, nothing lost. "

They have 6 or more stores and I think "not interested" would be a good way to put it.
