There's a couple of other countries besides the U.S. where English is spoken. And I'd have no complaint about that add running in another country. So some there don't want any American parts, just as some in this country emphasize "Buy American" and don't want anything foreign made, or made in certain other countries.

i have a couple friends there now, and they say almost everyone speaks english, so i guess that explains the sign. I would love to buy only cars, and other things, made in the good ole USA: but...i guess theres no sense going into all that..

I know someone who has a Smart Car here in the US...its a blast to drive, once you get used to all the stares...they tried to open a dealership a few years back, but the hoops they had to jump through to meet US requirements made it an unrealistic venture for them. There's a company in CA now who is doing the conversion, and the cost is really high.

As for crash worthy-ness...do a google search for "smart car crash video"...they ran one into a concrete barrier at an angle at 70+ mph...both doors still worked with no binding, so it's a pretty tough cookie
