Oil & Fuel Internal Hydraulic Fluid?

Hi, I am the new guy with the MF 302 diesel. After how many hours of run time should the internal hydraulic fluid be changed? Does anyone have a suggestion for the best hydraulic fluid to use for the internal hydraulics (3 pt hitch pump)? Does anyone know if MF fluid must be used? I would sure appreciate a recommendation of a brand name and a source for it.

Hi, Don. Each tractor has its own suggested interval for changing hydraulic fluid... mine, after the initial 50-hr change, is around every 200 hours, I believe-- for example. Others familiar with the 302 may be able to give specific info.

When I changed mine I used NAPA tractor fluid, which met the MF standard for Permatran II/III. Some folks have used synthetic oil as well.

It would be a good idea to get hold of an owner's/service manual if you don't already have one-- I notice there's one ("mint condition") for sale on e-bay for $29.95 that covers 302 & 304 Industrial Tractors.

Hi Don. Irving suggestion is very good, buy your tractor service book there will be all your answers and a lot more and will protect your investment. For an example, my first tractor was a 550 Oliver the brakes were so and so, I called the previous owner that gave me the way to adjust them......(my service book was on his way ))) and luckily I wai:thumbsup:ted because he was wrong . Tractor are expensive, do not mess with that. Good luck. Roger

Glad to hear you snapped up that ebay manual. That looks like a real neat tractor. Any idea how old it is? (Oh, yeah-- add some pics when you can!)
