I posted a problem about a month ago with my Kohler M18 having an intermittent problem losing spark. Each time this ocurred I've been able to eliminate one more thing, and last time I concluded it had to be the ignition module. After I spent three hours getting all the shrouds and covers out of the way to get at the module, I took it out and tested the secondary side again. It would fluctuate between 20Kohm and open as I flexed the plug wire where it enters the module. So the wire was the actual problem and it's an integral part of the module. $80 later I'm back in business. Thanks for all who offered help with the diagnosis.

Hi Mark, glad you got it fixed. If that was on a cub cadet I know how hard it is to get to. Had a fellow that was having a similar problem & I suggested it was his module. He replaced it & he still couldn't get it to start. I went over his place to see what was the problem. I usually don't like to work at someones house because inevitably I need more tools. Anyhow, we were getting weak spark. Tried changing plugs, same thing, scratched my head, hmmm, asked him if he set the gap right---what gap? So, off comes the shrouds again, drop a few bolts, search for half hour, finally get it back together. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
