We built a 30x40 metal garage for our house, since our house is of all-steel construction to match. It is a red-iron with purlins running horizontally on the open walls. We didn't insulate the walls at the time, but the roof has the bubble wrap/foil backed insulation with vapor barrier.

What would be the best way to insulate now after it's been up for 7 years? We had a cold snap and it was 35 degrees in there and I'd like for it not to be. lol I'd also do this on the overhead doors 9' x 18'.

Could a person somehow glue the blue foam board? Referring to something similar to this: R-Tech at Lowe's: 2" x 8' x 4' Insulated Sheathing

Or should I get some of the same I have on the roof and just start pulling side panels loose and use that?

Any ideas or suggestions? Anyone done this before?

You don't think that global warming will fix that problem, eventually? :)

A pic or two of what you have might help a lot.

I am going to use closed cell foam insulation for my exterior walls of my metal building. It has the highest R factor per inch and seals out air penetration. It is also the most expensive form of insulation. I am going to use blown in insulation for the drop ceiling.

We have 48 days on average when the temperature gets below zero each years, so insulation is very important here.

Good choice on the foam.:) It eliminates a laundry list of issues with other types of insulation against metal. I have a friend down below who is in the business and have learned some good things from him.

I would have spay foam applied.

What's the name of this foam? I had my house done with "ICYNENE", which stays flexible and the agent that "foams it up" is water/steam. Two liquids come together at the spray nozzle, has to be at the right temperature. I think technically it's a open cell foam.

Need to insulate a new outbuilding in progress, want to use this. I have wood/steel walls, and have the white bubble wrap on the ceiling.

I don't have a good one, but here's one when hurricane rita was coming a few years ago, thus all the chaos.

I don't plan to stud it out so it would have to be something kinda tough or not bulky.
