I was bushoging yesterday and noticed my pto shaft was not spinning. I looked where the shaft entered the housing and fluid was pouring out. The shaft had slid out about 6 inches and destroyed the bearing. After removing the drive shaft for the bushog I pulled on the pto shaft and it pulled completely out of the housing. Am I going to have a large problem putting the shaft back in? There is a c clip ring on the shaft and there was a very fine spring partly under the c clip.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You ever get an answer on this? I had the very same thing happen today. Cutting/cutter stopped/ pot shaft was further out than usual/gushing fluids. I got it back to the house and when I pulled the cutter link, the whole shaft came out. It looks great, but wondering if I broke a seal, or a bearing right at the end if the housing. Planning to pull the back plate off tomorrow and see what I find.

I'm on a '65 Ford 4000 8 speed
