A local dealer gave me an almost new suspension base from a large Kubota. I removed the JD 3038E seat and base matched it up to the new base and marked 4 holes to drill. I installed the new base with the original bolts. I cut down two 5" angle brackets, drilled 4 holes, and bolted them to the top of the base for the seat pin to run through. The seat still flips forward.

The seat switch wire is now too short but can easily be extended. For my test drive I jumpered it.

The seat now puts me up a few inches higher and a few inches further back. Also, the seat no longer adjusts front to back. I'm tall with long legs so it works fine for me.

A quick ride around the property made it obvious it was worth the work. No more spine jarring bumps. At 230 lbs I had to crank the spring tension up almost all the way.

It was about a 2 hour job.
