Nice looking gauge set and good price. I am going to get a temperature gauge like the oil pressure one I have and leave the charging light as is. I probably don't need the temp gauge but in the summer I would like to know if the radiator is getting plugged up before it gets hot enough for the light to come on. I will have to find an adapter for the block as I don't think the temp gauge comes with one. It might but I doubt it.

Are those 2" or 1 1/2"?

they are 52mm, close enough to 2". the oil sender and temp senders both came with adaptors.

I should have taken the time to look and see if they had a US version set of gauges. Could have gotten all 3 for the price I paid for the oil gauge.

At the time, I was concerned the pump was not priming after having the oil pan off for a few days waiting on the gasket to come in. But, I wanted to get the tractor back running and didn't want to wait. As soon as I get some final work done with it for the winter, I'll start on the sub frame back to the axles. I've got to rework the loader lines and hoses anyway and they are currently in the way of adding the sub frame.

While you are at it - can you measure that adapter and tell us the thread size where the temperature sensor goes into the block? I think that opening is 15mm, not British Standard like the oil pressure sensor. Thanks!

yEP THINGS like this you can usually get way cheaper on ebay. The chineese do wonders for the things you can get for the money. Yea it may not be here in 40 years but i just want a cheap gauge now for my tractor for 5 or 10 is fine with me. Im sure this is all our mentalities here on this board after all we would not be here solving others problems and sharing our ideas freely if we did not.

I always have a concern about the accuracy of measuring equipment be it electrical or mechanical. Is it really telling me what's actually going on? I have seen different gauges give different readings on the same line. Some as much as 20psi different.

There is a limit to what accuracy is worth dollar wise but the way I look at it is, if it's not telling me the real pressure, I might as well of had an idiot light.

Will do, report back shortly.

Yeah maybe true Gary. But a gauge whether it reads perfect temp is still better than idiot light. As long as its consistent you can see when your starting to have temp or pressure problems before its too late. Sometimes by the time light comes on its to late.

Your right about the temperature gauge. Being able to see the temperature start climbing is way better than waiting for the light to come on.

This new oil gauge is reading about 15 psi higher than the old gauge I had so I don't know which one was correct. Or, for that matter if either one was accurate. The old gauge was used the oil line and this one is electrical. Since I paid a lot more for this one, I'm hoping it is closer to the truth:laughing:

From an old post dated 10/14/01 (not sure what forum--I saved it in a text file) the temp sensor thread for a 1700 is a 16mm x 1.5mm. That's what fit on my 1500. I would suspect yours is the same.

Yeah but ... There have been a lot of posts on here speculating what is in there but so far as I know nobody ever measured one - therefor my question.

Every time I post that I think it is M15x1.5 (the adapter I bought for it after research, then never installed), somebody replies he's certain its BSP.

That's why I'm hoping Neat can settle this for us.

OK, here's the scoop. i pulled the sender adapter out of the 1500 and checked it, pulled the OEM sender out of the YM14 and measured it. checked it with the aledged size die nut and it fitted perfectly.want to know what it is?..................................M16x1.5. i was taking photo's of all of this but my SLR died at the start so i only have the 1 piccy of the adapter from the 1500. i actually swapped gauges around as i know what the 1500 ran at so i am comparing readings with the new set which is MUCH better than the Hong Kong set previously bought. i will put that set in the YM14. the 1500's adapter has and O ring on the back of it so a taper on the thread wasn't required.

Neat, thank you!!

Finally, real data on Yanmar's fittings.

So in summary:

M16 x 1.5 : Water temp sender.

1/8" British Standard Pipe Thread (also widely used on Japanese cars): Oil pressure sender.

Correct. i went to my hydraulic place this afternoon to buy some 1/8 BSPT elbows and an extension piece(the YM14 oil sender hits the belt so need to offset) and one of the guys there wasnt aware oil threads on Jap Vehicles were BSPT but the other 3 did.
