Ok, older farmer, doing cancer treatment. Cant go out as much as he used to. Common issue for watering his cattle, is the well. He wants a light installed outside (most likely red), so he can see it from the house. But doesn't care about it running, or holding pressure. He just wants the light to be on when he has a "0" pressure reading, so he knows well has an issue.

Thank you in advance for any help

Pressure switch set to close the contacts at some pressure lower than normal operating pressure would work. Could possibly get second well pressure switch and just set lower the one operating. This way switch is rated for water service.

I have thought about this for my own well. I would do what @oldnslo suggests for a red light, and a second light wired in parallel with pump to flash green when the pump is running to catch things like an open faucet.

All the best, Peter

This is what I did. Added a tee, short hose and a water pressure gauge where it is easily visible:

That's the logical place to put it, but it sure made me smile. :)

Yep, I can relieve my pressure and check the well tank pressure at the same time. :D

I like @oldnslo 's suggestion. Would also add another light (green or blue) connected to the power feed side to monitor if power is out or not as well.

Any pressure switch will work. Just set it lower than the switch that runs the pump. If the extra switch sees low pressure and makes the contacts, you can wire a light or anything to the switch to alert the owner. This is better than a light on the main pressure switch, as the light could be on when the switch is telling the pump to run, but the pump might not be working.

I love the pressure gauge on the crapper! Looks like something I would do. Lol!
