I am fabricating a qwick hitch system for my kubota 4200. This is what I have done so far. Decided to tac weld it on for now until I see how its going to work out.

Nice job Bob. Looks like it will work great.

Bear in mind you've changed your TPH geometry and some of your implements may need to be adjusted differently now.

When I changed the pin mounts on my rear blade to intentionally get a higher lift I failed to see that a cross member bound up the top link. The bind bent the top link but I was able to straighten it and chase the threads with a small file. Just a caution to check all your implements full motion with the new hitch and look for unintended pinch points.

Your points are well taken. As I mull this project over, I have decided the hitch probably wont save me alot of time switching implements. I will still need to get off / on the tractor ( a few times ) to set width of lower links, install lower link securing pins, connect the top link, connect PTO, etc. I have always used my crowbar to positon an impliment for 3pth hookup and I can do the whole process quite fast and be on my way, and I only have to get off the tractor Once ! I'm thinking too that I will have lower link binding problems with this qwick hitch. Think I'm gonna scrap the project :eek:

Thanks for the posting . I was considering making the same, I wondered if the horizontal pin could go on the side like that. Keep us up to date lol

Thanks for your comments Al. The horizontal holding pins should work fine as I have them in my pictures. I decided to abandon the project for the reasons I stated.

At first I assume that he had used solid stock. till DAH I looked at the picture and saw just what he used.
I wouldn't abandon the idea , Al tho I haven't welded yet i have put-sed around some with ideas.Such as how its welded to the top of the link . I am not sure that it needs to be a "J"
I envision just two separate pieces of stock welded in the vertical to simulate the hook. the pin could either rest right onto the original arm metal, or I cold weld a small piece of metal to the bottom. (all this would eliminate the problem of cutting the "J" from heavy stock)
Th retaining pin has always been a concern as I didn't know the width of the stock that is used on the carter setup or the pin size.I assume its not need to be a large diameter.

I was considering a project like this, but when I found the Harbor Freight QH on sale at times with discount coupons down to $65 I purchased. Granted it takes some re-work or at least mine did, but it was cheaper than buying the steel. I can hook and un-hook from the seat.:)

Ya just cant beat the price !! You couldn't begin to make that for $65 bucks ( if you figured your time too )

Thanks ! I had Not seen this thread...

I made the "J's " by drilling a 7/8 inch hole in 1/2 inch stock then using my angle grinder with cutoff wheel I finished it ... not that hard to do ;) Using 1 " stock would have worked much better but all I had was 1/2" so my retaining pins had to go on the outside.

Bob I'm sorry I was referring to the one on the link that Shvl73 made. He seems to have used tube stock.

Seesm to lok like a solid stock I believe it is a tube sliced and then filled in.
