Cub Cadet 882
Hello everyone, talking to you from the back yard where I am sleeping with the dog. I just purchased an old Cub Cadet without the stamp of approval from the boss. What have I done!!!! I found an old and very rare Cub Cadet 882 and it was only a few miles from my house. SCORE!!!!
My old Snapper rider gave her last breath 3 weeks ago with a cloud of smoke and a geiser of oil. I mow 4 very rough acres and my trusty old friend could no longer cope. After slofty playing taps over the smoking corpse of my old Snapper I dried my tears and slowly realized I needed a replacement.
Zero turns are all the rage so I gave one a try and HATED IT!!! No offense to anyone who owns one but TRACTORS RULE!!!!!
I know zeros are fast and manuverable but I enjoy cutting my grass and when those things need fixin woah are they expensive. Plus I can't afford a new one.
So there I was. Limited budget but in need of a quality replacement and right in the middle of the springtime hyper accelerated grass growth season to boot. I was desperate! The wife agreed (allowed) me a moderate budget and I started looking. I spread the word and checked every lead. Each time I found a good deal it was snatched away. Three weeks passed and the yard was turning ferrel. My wifes little yorkie snapperdoodle designer high strung rat dog was getting lost in the weeds and with no new mower in sight I had to cave and hire someone with a cursed zero to cut the grass:mad:.
Afterwards my wife said we should just pay someone to mow it every two weeks instead of buying a new mower:eek:........... long pause while I compose myself.
Guys back me up here. Do you pay someone to wash your classic car? Do you pay someone to play catch with your son? Do you pay someone to walk your daughter down the isle? HELLLL NOOOOOO YOU DON'T!!!!! and NO MAN SHALL CUT MY GRASS WHILE I DRAW BREATH!!!
So I bought a tractor with a diesel engine. An old 100% american made down and dirty pull a redwood stump out of the ground tractor. Scoot over Rover and make room for daddy and his newest toy.

Great first post. Happy G is right - you'll fit in fine here.
You made the right call. If you enjoy the work, get a tool that's up to the job and do it the way you want it done; whenever you want it done.
Sounds very similar to our G5200, which has been a great mower. If your experience is like mine, you may find that you use half the fuel that you did with the gas mower.
You might want to share that fact with She Who Must Be Obeyed.
Let's see some pics!
