C: Hmmm, I am home early and a little tired...

Sounds like somebody else found out you're only supposed to post good things about Mahindra here!

Re: I\'m glad everything is not built like my 4110

Ken, sorry to hear about the minor problems you are experiencing with your Mahindra 4110. I have abused my 4110, used it like a bulldozer. It sounds to me like the Mahindra is suffering from some problems that are typical for any tractor once it gets a few hours on it. None of these problems sound very major. No drive train issues, no hydraulic issues. Mostly cosmetic stuff, rubber boots, etc. Sounds like it is in storage a lot.

Re: I\'m glad everything is not built like my 4110

KENB- My 4110 now has a little over 1100 hours on it. Mine was produced in 2001 and I bought it new in Feb. 2002, it is the TYM built tractor. I had a major mechanical problem about this time last year (4110-broken bolts) that I was really hot about but I repaired my tractor myself and moved on. I have really worked my tractor, used it commercially for 2 years and work it even harder for my own projects. It has always been kept outside and it shows - my paint is pink, my light switch is a little cheesy but still works, a little rust under the paint at seams, cracked plastic fenders etc. I have one reoccurring mechanical problem that I've had since new - I'll snap a front axle occassionaly, usually the left front, but I can change it in 30 minutes on the work site and the new axle is around $45. I was told by a Mahindra tech to run the front tires at max. inflation and the rears as low as I dare - obviously they have (had?) the gear ratios in the differentials mis-matched for the tires they use. I keep the fronts good and hard but I can't bring myself to run those tubeless rears any lower than 12 psi - don't want to bust a bead loose and lose all that methanol. I haven't had any of the other problems I've read about on the site here - no ground problems, no PTO problems, not a single leak anywhere. I work my tractor very hard but maintain it religously. Overall I have been very happy with my 4110, but like with anything mechanical, there will be failures. I was a professional auto mechanic for 34 years and have seen just about everything you can imagine happen to vehicles, this tractor isn't any different. I believe I would buy another 4110 if I were looking for a tractor again - for all the problems I've had, the amount of work this baby has put out has made it worth it in my opinion.

KENB
Don't sweat the small stuff, you sound like me when MURPHY'S Law sneaks up and bites me, which happens a lot lately. Don't let it get to you its all part of owning a tractor, As far as the 4110, I have one and it has been good to me, even with Murphy's law standing behind me.
P.S. How is your Father recovering, I still think of your post from last July and hope/pray all is well

That's not the feeling I get from the various posts. occasionally someone gets a little uptight but, that seems fairly infrequent to me. I think people are quick to post positives about there tractors because for the most part, they have positive experiences with their choice.
If I have an issue I'll certainly post it here. If there is any critisism, that's ok with me. I'll be looking for the benefit of the collective knowledge base here on TBN. It's been very helpfull to me so far.
I think Ken's overall feeling could become much more positive with the assistance found here as well. However if he's as unhappy as he states, and it's financially feasible, trade.

Re: I\'m glad everything is not built like my 4110

Nope, don't have 500 hrs., but well over 300.

There have been 2 mechanical problems with my TYM 10 series, both documented in this forum.

One: brakes would not fully release after heavy hogging.
Repair: 2 trampoline springs and a choke collar

Two: lost 2 front axle bolts, no idea when
Repair: trip to the dealer for 2 axle bolts and a front drive shaft collar lock

Here's a short story that may relate. A while back we bought 2 work vans, small V-8 automatic. Seems no matter who was in charge of them, one performed flawlessly and the other was a recurring headache, transmission, fuel pump, AC compressor, antilock brake module plus more $100 things than I can remember all in 72,000 miles.

If you got a lemon, do what i did and get rid of the sob.

Re: I\'m glad everything is not built like my 4110

Well I'll stick by my statement that some folks don't want to hear any bad about their brand.
My 6000 just turned over 400 hours and I've had a few problems but all in all it's been a pretty good tractor. It's done some things that impressed me. My biggest problem was with my dealer. Other than that it did get a new starter and alternator, the steering actuator pin fell out in the hayfeild, hydraulic pump went bad (which may have been my fault). That's all I can think of right now. Tractor performs well!
Never any engine or tranny problems.
