I'm Back // New Purchase

@ SnPower: Congratulations on the new purchase. I recently purchased a 1025R as well. Looking for some advice. I'm new to tractor and trailer world. I'm would like to purchase a GN trailer and don't know what brand, spec's to purchase. I know I need at least 20 ft. to fit the tractor with brushog and loader. I'm kind of looking for the "all purpose" trailer that would suffice for most any projects. Any words of wisdom? Load weight?, tires? I've been looking at MaXX - D, and Kerney trailers.

Thanks in advance! Any others, out there, please feel free to jump in

I'm just north of Dallas, TX.

Goose neck trailers are the best, but with the JD 1025R basic tractor weight at only 1444 lb., even with loader and brushog, you will really not need much more than a 5000/6000 lb. GVW trailer.
The 20' is a good idea, but unless you are towing long distances at interstate speeds, a goose neck certainly seems like $ overkill.

We will be towing about 30 miles one way at approx 70 mph. Maybe 2x/month? Using a 12" lifted f350 SW. Longbed. Need to be able to park trailer in residential driveway neighborhood, off alley drive. We will be towing building supplies and lots of cinderblocks/ concrete/lumber with it as well. Maybe one day we will size up to a bigger tractor. We didn't want to have to purchase another one.

Looking into which ramps, dovetail, or spring assist standup ramps as well... getting older here. I've heard GN were safer and less sway. I'd appreciate your input

You may have trouble getting a GN trailer to sit level with a 12” lifted truck. It’s not often I’m advocating for less trailer but a 7,000 pound car hauler trailer will be fine for that tractor.

Yes I've been wondering about that - wasn't sure if I needed a deck over wheels? Are they taller?

I don’t think a deck over makes much difference in the hitch height. You could always lower the truck back down.. it’s not like it does one single thing better.

Well it's been awhile. Parted with my Kubota BX2360 in 2014 but recently began the search anew. I knew it had to be green; I grew up earning money in the summer on my Dad's GT275 - which I have now along with a GT235. I looked at 2210's, 2305's, 4100's, 1026R's... and I am sure a few others. I was close to pulling the trigger on a 2305 when I came across a 2016 1025R with 122 hours. I put some cash down and somehow ended up with same as new financing on the balance. I am thrilled to pieces, looking forward to keeping this one forever!

Welcome back sir.
As mentioned by bigtiller "six years without a tractor, there must be some horror stories in there". As handy as the newer subcompact tractors are, I could not imagine not having one if I still had any yard at all. Not my favorite color but it's a good looking tractor.
Enjoy.

Ha, Ha, correct! It does look cool ;} We purchased the truck used and it was already done. Saved the money for other things like a 1025R :} and now, another set of tires...talk about $$$!
