My father bought a 1547 about a year ago. Hurrican Ike came and the surge flooded his house, and lawn mowwers other tractors and anything four foot or less off the ground. His 1547 came real close to the water getting into the intake and exaust manifolds. All electical plugs and connections that were on the hot side of the battery were oxidized to the point of the wires in the connections being eaten into. When I went to the fuse block to remove fuses some of them lost prongs as I removed them. Looking at the back of the fuse block I saw some of the wires were starting to break off. I have looked for a new wiring harness on-line and can't find one. Any help would be appreciated. Salt water does a number on electrical parts.

Wasn't there anyway he could have gotten the tractors and mowers up on higher ground knowing this was coming?

coarse move everything you got 50 miles cause it "might" snow acid snow for a week---that storm surge pushed water into areas that had not seen storm surge 6" in record able history--Those places had 3 to 4 foot of water all along the La and Tex coast some places Fifty miles inland----Quess all those folks in the Southeast just need to move closer the the oil refinery's if they need a tank of gas---someone has to live here!!!! We are not totally crazy it just helps at tax time----jeezes!!!could live on wall street and get free money all the time not just food stamps once in awhile!!!!!

Bet you do not spend days and hours shoveling snow!!!You have time to live and play on your tractor. many policies will pay for physical damage to your tractor---you may have to argue a bit!!

Great Idea---it just seems that each hurricane is different---if he puts it on a high mound the next storm will probably have high winds and just blow it off the hill into the water---it is heck to plan for the unknown---i thought that is why you buy insurance---but they (insurance companies)have figured out how to interpret things after the event to their financial benefit

Isn't that always the truth. That goes for health, auto, home, flood, you name it- insurance. Whenever there's a claim, there's always a fight and their first answer seems to always be 'No'.

Get this---a storm surge and a flood are not the same thing?????The tractor was under water---sounds like the storm surge caused the flood but it is still a flood!!!!!!!!! We pay for floods not storm surges???? go figure! And they wonder why 2 + 2= 1 in Louisiana---- your 2 beers and my two beers given to a Cajun equals one drunk registered voter!!!! Pure Science---we run that experiment often at election time!!!
Dont know for sure how long the tractor was under the water. We had to go north. But I would figure it was probably at least two days. Building a mound sounds like a good idea, but I also guess we should jack our homes up also. This has never happend before so we are all in kind of a shock. I thank all of you for the advice and concern. Flood insurance is a joke, if you you dont have it you get help a lot quicker. Nieghbors already have money sent to there checking acounts, while we have to qauble with adjusters.
