IHC rear brake drum

Is it possible to slip off the rear brake drum without removing the whole hub? I need to get in to look at a noise. I removed the split backing plate and can see (barely) a tin or very thin steel piece. Its round (around the hub), not a spring. I thinking its like a slinger or something similar.

Truck is an International S1754 9.0L, Spicer 5 speed, Spicer (I think) 2 speed axle, air brakes, Budd wheels.

No way to get it off the drum is bolted to the hub will have to pull it as a unit

So it basically works like a mid 80's Chevy K35. Remove duals, remove axle, remove hub nut and lock, slide off drum/hub assembly.... Just a whole lot heavier.

Is it possible for 2 people to remove the drum/hub assembly or should I use an engine crane or floor jack.

If you remove the tires you should be able to remove it by hand with out a problem You could use a floor jack to

I did the job this afternoon in between other work at the shop. The road commisioner let me use the a 3/4 impact which made a big difference, my 1/2 impact wouldn't touch it even after breaking them loose with a bar and pipe. Other than being heavy it went well. I cleaned the budd nuts and lugs well and made sure the mating surface on the rims were clean too.

The part making the noise was some sort a shield that is/was bolted to the drum/hub. It was pretty mangled up but no damage to anything else. Pretty amazing how simple the brakes are, so little parts.
