autorangers are a poor choice of meter for many automotive systems.. has to do with emi/rfi and sampling times..

Hi please could you help me i have a b414 which i am going to change fro genarator to alternator. I have a bosch alternator with two terminals one is the main charge terminal and the other is? I think it has to go to the ign switch? The main charge terminal i have got it going to the ampmeter is this right or not?

sorry, i don't know the correct answer, but hopefully one of the other good folks can help you.

My alternator has a small regulator attached. I only recall one post to go to my battery, and one for the ignition/coil. Mine still isn't right, but I've got so many issues going on with this tractor, I'm giving up and taking it to a mechanic.

my uncle questioned why anyone would change over from generator to alternator. His reasoning was that it was designed to run with a generator, the generator serves it purpose and functions, generators were used for years, so leave it the way it was. When i bought mine it was already converted, but couldn't have been working for a long time since wires weren't connected.

Alternators are so much better and easier to operate. My guess is your larger terminal is output to battery and the smaller wire should be to ignition, for excitation? That is the logical way to do it.I have only used the Gm alternators for my conversions.Google the Number and brand and look for links, I bet it is there?
