I had to replace the battery on my lt1046 this year, it sat in garage for almost a year before I replaced it. Icould not start it after that, starter spinning but didn't kick over. Replaced spark plug, fuel filter, fuel pump, checked all fuel lines, drained gas line and added stabilizer but no go. I was told it could be the kill switch stuck on carbuerator. How do I check this and any other suggestions most helpful, thanks.

I don't think there is a kill switch on the carb. The key switch kills the engine.
First I would try a squirt of starting fluid in the carb and see if it trys to start. If it trys to start I would give the carb a good cleaning. Likely the needle is stuck in the seat and isn't letting any fuel in.
If it doesn't try to fire on starting fluid then check to see if you're getting any spark. Remove the spark plug, reattach the plug wire and ground the threaded area to the engine and have someone crank the engine. You should see a nice blue spark. Do this in the garage or you may not see it in the bright sun. If your not getting any spark it could be a bad coil or rodent damage to a wire. There is a wire from the coil to the key switch that grounds out the ignition check to make sure it hasn't been damaged and is grounded.

I took a look at the wiring diagrams for 1000 series and the wire from the magneto(coil) goes to the brake switch.

I think the kill switch on the carb that you are talking about is the fuel solenoid...and yes, that could be stuck. If you can find the silver looking thing on the bottom of the carb bowl that is the solenoid. An easy way to check that is to hold a finger on it and turn the key switch on, you should be able to feel it click. If you feel or hear a click, it is working. (I cannot remember if you need to have your brake pedal down to do this)
