Ignition fuse issue

Hey all,
I've finally figured out a cure for my ignition fuse issue on my MF 265.
History: -started blowing the 20 amp ignition fuse. Found it right after finishing cutting/raking/and baling my small hay field.
- dismantled my tractor dash as much as I could (because of cab on tractor). Removed the fel, hood, battery cover side plates, etc.
- changed out the amp meter, corroded braided negative cable, fixed a couple of poor electrical connections I found (lights, etc.). Still blew the ignition fuse.
-ordered a new alternator and installed it.
- since I had everything apart, decided to change the fan belt and the engine stop cable. I had also bought a new ignition switch just in case, but didn't need it.

Anyways, the new alternator was the answer. Fuse is holding!!

Not that I was aware of your search for an answer, but "Thanks!" Too many times I read lengthy threads, hoping for a good fix to a problem, only to discover the OP never posted which suggestion helped!

Think I had a few suggestions from others about checking the fuse holder connections, looking for a bare wire grounding out someplace (which is what I thought), etc.
Think what caused the whole issue to start with was the corroded braided ground cable. I think it caused the alternator's diodes or the voltage regulator to crap out. Therefore if you've got a braided ground cable and it's a little corroded, change it out.
Just hope my answer will help others
