Staying in budget maybe look at used Kubotas or JD's with loader and minus the frustrating electronics. I'm thinking a two wheel JD with loader should be around waiting for you.

A John Deere 4500-4600 would do well. I would want a loader, once you have one you will never want another without it

!5,000 down finance the rest- get the tractor you want. Or buy used.

I would tour the dealers, all of them, that are within the travelling distance I am comfortable with. Even though I know 15K will not get me a JD, Kubota, Case or Massey... Ask questions! See their product knowledge and the attention they are willing to put up with you. I certainly would not say at the first visit what my true budget is. That I would keep when I have narrowed my search. I also would be a little vague at to what I really need. Let them guide you at first...as I think it will tell a lot. I also would ask to tour their repair shop. What's in there for repair? Does it look clean and professionel? What's their hourly rates? Guaging your dealers beforehand is certainly not a bad thing to do.
For 15k cash, you will not get many contenders to deal with when you will be done your /touring/. Probably Kioti and LS will be your final contenders. Ergonomics is very important (placement of pedals, diff lock,3pth levers, PTO engagement, etc), like wise front(over the hood) and rear (PTO, 3pt.hitch, drawbar)views. All this has its balance in what I will call an efficient tractor. If you work a lot with the rear PTO, would the 750 and or 1000 rpm be needed?
Do you need power reverser? Is clutching allright for you?
What I am saying is You will be the one working the tractor you best feel is right for you. The last bit of detail could be the signing factor!!

In the past, I've run a lot of 2WD stuff - 9N, 8N, Farmall A, IH B, Ford 2-3000ish series stuff of all kinds, both yellow and blue. I've had the Long for twenty years.
What I haven't run, is the small 4WD stuff.
If you look around, there is 2WD stuff that can be bought for $15K. I've seen JD 5045D, MF 2600 series and Mahindra 25 series stuff go for that, or less. I haven't looked at the 4WD stuff much, but for the kind of money we're talking about I can get into something like a LS G series with a loader. If I look at CUT's without a loader, I might could get into a little bigger CUT, I don't know. I'm just ignorant on how a 4WD CUT stacks up against a 2WD full-size utility when it comes to pulling ability.
Used is always a possibility, but I'd like for it to be fairly late model and it seems like if it has green or orange paint, the prices seem mighty high.
Lastly, this is Louisiana. What are these things y'all call hills? :confused3:

I think its time for you to get out and take a look at some of the tractors that have been mentioned here. Sit on them take a few test rides and see what you feel good on. I think you will be impressed with a lot of the new machines.
Understanding your concerns about how a machine will feel being so much lighter than yours is and knowing the difference between 2 x and 4x in both heavy and light machines I would be looking to stay within a reasonable distance of what you have now. In simple terms don't go too light but still no need to be at the same exact weight.
