That observation has it's flaws.

A sheet of steel, placed on the surface of water. (steel is "less light" than water, by most observations.

the steel falls or sinks.

Same piece of steel. but with all it's edges folded up and welded tight. Place that (correctly) on the water surface, and it "floats". Same steel, same water, different observation.

A fault in the logic...
