The feud between Man and Snake goes way back...it's almost like we are programmed to hate them.

My friend is a biologist and he says we inherited two things from monkeys:

- lack of hair on the second section of our fingers (it is considerably less than the third section)

- fear of snakes since snakes were snitching monkeys in night sleep in trees for millions of years.

IMHO he got a point.

Well I have no fear of snakes, but am terrified of heights. I think my ancestor where created, not evolved from monkeys.;)

I just came across this guy today, only seen maybe three of these in 12 years.

I wasn't paying attention and almost stepped on him. That really freaks me out when I’m busy doing something, thinking about what I’m involved in at the time, and then all of a sudden realize that I’m right on top of a d*^# snake!! I hate that!!

He was about 30 feet from the house. I know he’s a good guy, so I just let him go on his way

He’s a king snake from I’ve been told. This guy was about 3’ long.

Nice King snake!

The new addition to our family (gopher terminator) was bouncing and jumping by the cabin. When I got closer I saw he was attacking a deadly copperhead. I quickly threw a shoe to scare him away and the other shoe I threw at the snake and killed it. He got promoted to top cat and can now nap on the tractor.:)

Bird, the one thing I have noticed about killing snakes, is the poisonous ones usually smell real bad. All the moccasins, rattlers, and copperheads I've killed smelled like they were already dead.

Don, if you see him attacking a bill collector, are you gonna let him sleep in the house?;) :D

I have a friend that identify all snakes as COPPER HEADED WATER RATTLERS, It's real fun to be with him when we run across any snake any where. But it sure looks like a corn snake to me.

I like that, My mother is more than afraid of snakes and growing up any snake that startled her (all snakes she saw) had to be killed then killed again. I think they were copper headed water rattlers.
