ice cream rant

I just got back from the store. In addition to dinner groceries, I got some ice cream.

It looked kinda funny though. Took me a minute; it is 1.5qts. They made the package smaller, but kept the price. Looked at the other brands, same thing.

Dad gummed if that aint just something!

I take it you did not notice a 32 oz. jar of spaghetti sauce, is now 24 oz., either?

It is harder to find products that have not been downsized, than ones that have.

I understand it, imagine the rant they would get, if they increased the price by the amount it would take to keep the sizes the same.

Yeah, but what is that price. Most brands in the grocery stores here have the newer shaped container that hold "3 pints" as they're labelled, which of course is the 1.5 qt. as you mentioned. Of course in Texas, Blue Bell is the big name in ice cream and they advertise still having the full half gallon or 2 qts. to the container. But I think Braum's ice cream is hard to beat and they, too, use the 3 pint containers, but 2 of them are $6, so you get 3 qts. for $6. The 2 qt. Blue Bell container is usually $5.98, so the smaller container is a better deal all around here. I bought 2 containers of Braum's vanilla with cherries and pecans yesterday. And the smaller container is easier to hold while you dig the ice cream out with the ice cream spade.:laughing:

I just bought the 5 gallon pail of driveway sealer its now 4.75 gallons for about 3 dollars mroe than it was back in December.. LOL 50 lbs of dog food at wally world is now 45 somehting ..I grabbed some peanutbutter cups and they are smaller too. choc chip cookies from wally worlds downsized..I think we would be hard pressed to find somethign that hasnt downsized..

Ice cream spade? You guys must really tear up some serious ice cream. You will never hear Martha Stewart or Oprah talking about a Tofu spade or yogurt spade. Oh my!

And ice cream spade is something I never heard of until someone mentioned it on Tractobynet. I bought the Farberware stainless steel model at Walmart and haven't used either of our ice cream scoops since. It's so much better that I'll probably never use a scoop again.

I hope all you guys eatin' ice cream come down with a severe case of toenail fungus. I'm on a diet and can't even think of eating ice cream.:drool: Last week my MIL brought over a big apple pie and a 1/2 gallon of Blue Bell ice cream to dollup on top. I had to sit there drinkin' my diet soda and refuse to eat any. Oh well. . . .
