Do any of you guys with the i1046/i1050 have a problem holding down the go pedal on these mowers. Mine seems to be stiff. I really have to press hard to keep it down and my leg gets tired holding it down.. and it only takes about 45 min. to mow my yard.

I've got the 1046 and have not noticed that problem.

Thanks.. I'm trying to build a case for when I take it back.. I let some people try it yesterday and the first person that rode it said something about the gas being hard to push.

They are changing the pedal for 08, its taller and should give more leverage.

Well, here is my back and forth with Cub Cadet technical dept....

ME......
I recently purchased a new Cub Cadet i1046. The gas pedal is VERY hard to hold down and the tractor runs slow. The gas pedal is the biggest problem. I have heard the 2008 model's have had a design change. Can you advise me on this problem as it is bad enough that I plan returning the mower if I can't get this fixed.
I purchased this mower from Greensboro Tractor in Greensboro NC.
Thank you

Cub Cadet rep......
We apologize, but that issue would be difficult to diagnose via the Internet. We have not experienced similar complaints and suggest you contact xxxxxxx and have them inspect the tractor.
We do not get into lengthy service diagnosis or explanations via e-mail. Our responsibility here in e-correspondence is to respond to the most common inquiries. If issues are too complex or require extensive diagnosis, customers are directed in the manner that can assist them most efficiently.

It must be something to my gas pedal problem on my i1046, because I have been told that the 2008 lineup, the pedal and been completely re configured.

Again, there has not been a change to the "gas" (actually it is the transmission control) pedal function. Please contact your dealer for further assistance. There is nothing we can do for you over the Inter Net. If you believe there is a problem, a dealer must inspect the unit for you to determine the cause or if the machine is operating as designed.

Well, off to the dealer I go.....

Let us know what you find out, I have the same complaint.. Problem is I can't really feel right about taking mine back to a dealer as I bought it at a big box store.

I only mowed one time with this thing.. hate it.. I called the dealer again today and told them I was mowing with a 10 year old Snapper 33 inch cut with a 4000 buck Cub sitting in the drive way...
I told the dealership, hey.. Home depot would take it back.. Hopefully that got them thinking.. They are working with MTD to come up with a solution... The dealership has been great to deal with and the salesman I have been working with is the nicest person ever and I do believe they will eventually take it back.........I think....

Since you have only cut grass with it one time is it possible it just needs some breaking in? Lots of mechanical things are tight when you first get them but some use and they loosen right up. Same thing with motors. Engines develop more horsepower after they have been broken in because there is less friction.

I would think the dealer would make it right. Find a longer pedal, or reduce the effort some other way.

I just bought the I1046 at the big box store but have not picked it up yet. Are you guys happy with this tractor or not. I was able to buy for under $2000 and thought it was a good buy.
