A few weeks ago, I began looking for a used tractor with FEL. After looking at the prices of anything decent, I started looking at the JD 790, 990. I figured I couldn't run a baler, but they would certainly be handy. After lurking in the discussion groups at TBN, I was convinced to spend the money to get a tractor that will do everything I need it to do. Bale 9 acres, clean the barns, bushhog the ditches along the roads (3/4 mile total) around the 80 acres.
Thanks for the useful information in the discussion forums, and I decided on the JD 5303 with 512 FEL. Got them both for under 20K. Don't know if that was a great deal as the series has been discontinued, but the deal is done, and I received the tractor yesterday afternoon and already have my first 5 hours in. I've spread a triple axle full of gravel, cleaned the barn, and took a few joy rides past the neighbors houses down the lightly traveled country road I live on.
Life is good here in Indiana.
