So i had a new thought when i came back to see the new posts..
As far as a box blade.. when did those things come into use? It occurs to me that the 3pt scoop/trip bucket did some of what a box blade does in terms of moving material from one place to another, because the main advantage of a box blade over a regular angle blade (which seems to have existed earlier?), is the ability to drag material without losing as much. I know most have rippers and two blades etc but i feel like the main feature of it is the 'walls' making it a 'box'.
So i wonder if there was any overlap between the spread of box blades and the trend away from 3pt scoops. A box blade is something that can do a half-ass job of being an angle blade and a scoop, and it's one piece that has no moving parts.
