I have a mx track and pile a lot of dirt up with rocks that need picked out. I imagine in the summer when it’s super dry they work well. For those with experience what do you have and how well does it work. I have clay soils so that complicated things. The machine is a svl75.

I have previously read other threads where there was general agreement that round tine rock buckets clear themselves better than the square tines. In my search, I found lots of square tines or bar tines, many with around 3 inch spacing, but not many with round tines.

Personally, I would not want any wider than 2 inch spacing for separating rock.

Might also suggest confirming what the max lift rates are for your SVL to determine acceptable weight for the bucket in your search.

Personal Experience:

I found mine on Marketplace, but it took a couple of months. It's badged as a "New Holland", although it's a rebranded Bradco. The guy had bought it new, but it was too much weight for his 30hp tractor to lift with rock in the bucket.

Rock is heavy, and my bucket is heavy...over 1000#. It's a beast and I can overload the MX6000, 60 HP loader with a full load of gravel on the 72 inch bucket. Llkely, your skid steer would not have any issues with the 72 inch bucket.

I can't confirm the effectiveness of the square or bar tine buckets, although after about 50 hours of use separating asphalt millings while building my driveway, the 2 inch spacing and round tines have worked perfect with very little material hanging up between the tines...and the Bradco is going to last longer than me...

Svl 75 tipping weight is like 6500lb, working capacity is rated at 50% that at close to 3300lb. Picking up 4-5000lb is not a big deal as long as you keep it low.

But that bucket is exactly what I’m looking for. I am new to facebook, joined a few months ago to join dirtbike groups to try and resolve an issue, I’ll look around there.

A rock bucket probably would not work well on my property. Too much organics. Wider spacing would simply pass the rocks I would want to exclude.

My method - a wheelbarrow and a multi-tine pitch fork. UGH......

Marketplace is your friend.

WR Long sells grapples that can have narrower spacing added so you end up with a grapple and something that can separate. I made an insert for my grapple that does that and it works ok at a good general first pass. It doesn't give you the same level of screening a Grizzly screener etc. would for the smaller stuff so it depends on how bit. I also have clay and a ton of plant matter in most of what I screen. Not normally a one pass job with just the grapple. Not sure a rock bucket would do it that much better. I couldn't justify the cost of a dedicated bucket.

I use a rock bucket. Most of them are 3" spacing. A 3x6 rock will fall through which is not good. I welded 5/8 rebar midspan between the 3" spaced ribs and that bucket held too much dirt. Rock buckets are a good idea but not the perfect solution

Those are nice photos you attached. I can also confirm that the long round tines work better than the square tine rock buckets because we use both types in our dry rocky soil. The round tine type is longer out front, the step that holds the rocks in works better, and the dirt sifts through easier even though the spacing between tines is less.

But the round tine costs more. A square tine type will do some work and costs under a thousand dollars. I bought the round tine used for just over two thousand on trial to see if it really was better.
It's been worth the extra cost.
