I need some help please

I am trying to get my Husky lawn tractor to run again. But, this last time I got it to run and after abert five minutes the negative battery terminal melted. I am fresh out of ideas could anybody help.

do you have the battery hooked up wrong and if not did you change the wiring to where the charging system form the engine is going to the neg. side, Joe Dirt
