I need my 1952 Ford 8N to start... please help!!

possible? sure.. especially if headbolts and some juoker didn't retrofit studs.

cramped? yes.. but doable.

i would not be pulling the head till i pulled valve side cover and worked on them thru that. I have gotten N valves freed up using penetral thru the side covers.

exactly what i mentioned.

pull valve side covers... i bet for find the intakes for 1 & 2 stuck open.

I pulled the covers for 1 and 2. What should I be looking for? All looked good. I turned over the engine and all 4 valves moved. Basically what looked like up and a 1/4 turn. Will upload video when I get back to broadband.

Is that what I'd be looking for?

Unfortunately if you verified they are all moving just as much as one another, then start taking that hood off.

yup.. if you have cyls with -0- compression and the valves are all moving the same.. then that's bad.

like holed pistonshattered cyl liner..

deffinately start taking hood off...

Or look on craigslist for one that is running.

Buying one that is running might be cheaper in the long run.

I have a 8n, and your motor should be turning over faster than that. I would bet it is either a broken ring or a whole in the piston.

even a broken ring will make some compression. a snatched out liner or holed piston could put out near zero though

Broken crank will allow 3and4 to turn over 1 and 2 won't. Does the fan turn while you try to start it?
